THE IRS IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS (Tax News On The Tenth)
By Timothy M. Hughes 2010-05-10
Recently the IRS has hired numerous personnel to fill auditor and revenue officer positions with the Service. In addition to this increase in their ranks the IRS has announced it will hold special open houses this summer at some 200 locations nationwide. The first of these open houses will be on May 15, with two additional open houses scheduled for June 5 and June 26. IRS staff will meet face-to-face with taxpayers and be available by telephone.
At each IRS open house location there will be IRS staff available to deal with issues involving notices, payments, return preparation, audits and a variety of other issues. The IRS hopes with these open houses to resolve issues on the spot for individuals and small businesses. In Illinois the open house locations will be open on this Saturday, May 15, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to provide help to small business owners and individual taxpayers. The four locations for Illinois are:
Chicago: 230 S. Dearborn St.
Chicago, IL 60604
Galesburg: 2066 Windish Dr.
Galesburg, IL 61401
Schiller Park: 5100 river Rd.
Schiller Park, IL 60176
Springfield: 3101 Constitution Dr.
Springfield, IL 62704
